Muscat: The third edition of the "Oman Electricity and Energy Conference" is set to commence at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre on Tuesday. This event will focus on the mechanisms for executing the Sultanate of Oman's strategies for energy transformation, incorporating both local and international collaboration.
The conference is anticipated to feature 60 speakers from the fields of electricity and energy, both domestically and internationally. The workshops are designed to cover a range of topics, including network flexibility, energy storage systems, smart grid solutions, and the utilization of hydrogen in electricity turbine energy generation, among others.
The inaugural session of the conference will be graced by the presence of Dr. Khamis bin Saif Al Jabri, the Head of the Follow-up Unit for the Implementation of Oman Vision 2040.
Organized by the "Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers" and "Raya Services and Business Company," in collaboration with the Nama Group, the conference aims to establish a platform that fosters the development of national cadres and competencies, as well as the exchange of technical expertise.
The agenda of the conference will delve into various subtopics, including the future prospects of the sustainable energy sector, the advancement of transmission and distribution networks, access to energy efficiency, asset management, digital transformation, and the evolution of smart grids.
Over the span of three days, participants will engage in discussions on the Sultanate of Oman's endeavors in the energy transformation sector, focusing on the reduction of carbon emissions and the securement of energy supplies to support economic diversification pathways.
The conference will feature an array of materials, including working papers, visual presentations, and specialized discussion sessions with experts and specialists from relevant parties. Additionally, a series of workshops will address the challenges encountered within the electricity and energy sectors.
Eng. Abdullah bin Suleiman Al-Wahaibi, the Head of the Electricity and Energy Division at the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, has announced that the theme of this year's conference will be "Mechanisms for Implementing the Sultanate’s Energy Transformation Plans," with a focus on reviewing critical topics such as the latest developments and policies within the energy sector.
The conference will also include an exhibition showcasing the latest technologies and solutions within the energy and electricity sectors, alongside an open platform for researchers and students to present their research findings and the outcomes of their studies in these fields.
