Commerce Minister Discusses Strengthening Economic Relations With US Officials

Muscat: Today in Muscat, Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, who serves as the Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, held a meeting with Bryant Trick, the Assistant U. S. Trade Representative for Europe and the Middle East, alongside Jason Pontin, the Director of European and Middle Eastern Affairs at the U. S. Trade Representative’s Office. The objective of this meeting was to bolster economic and trade ties between the Sultanate of Oman and the United States.

The conversation during the meeting centered on strategies for enhancing trade and investment collaboration between the two nations, as well as the exploration of promising opportunities across diverse sectors, aligning with the goals of Oman Vision 2040 and the Sultanate of Oman's economic diversification initiatives.

Additionally, the discussions touched upon how to leverage the existing free trade agreements between the two countries, in addition to methods for simplifying trade processes, increasing exports, and promoting high-value investments to improve the Omani market's competitiveness both regionally and globally.

Qais Al Yousef underscored the strength of the Omani-American partnership, expressing Oman’s dedication to advancing its trade relationship with the United States. He encouraged greater participation from the U. S. private sector in Oman’s market and pointed out the various investment benefits that the Sultanate has to offer. He also highlighted the necessity for ongoing dialogue to foster further cooperation in trade and investment.

This encounter forms part of a sequence of bilateral meetings aimed at enhancing communication, sharing expertise, and nurturing sustainable economic partnerships that benefit both countries.

Ana Escrogima, the Ambassador of the United States of America to the Sultanate of Oman, was also present at the meeting.
