Chase's All-Round Effort Helps WI Level Series With 5-Wicket Win Over Pakistan In 2nd ODI

Tarouba: Roston Chase's all-round performance helped the West Indies beat Pakistan by five wickets in the second ODI at Tarouba on Monday.

With this victory, the West Indies have tied the three-match series at 1-1. The game was cut short due to rain.

WI chose to pitch first in a 37-over-per-side encounter. Pakistan lost wickets on a regular basis, and at one point were reduced to 88/4 in 21.1 overs.

Hussain Talat (31 off 32 balls, with four boundaries) and Hasan Nawaz (36 off 30 balls, with three sixes) led Pakistan to 171/7 in 37 overs.

Jayden Seales (3/23 in seven overs) was the Caribbean team's best wicket taker in the game, with Jediah Blades, Shamar Joseph, Gudakesh Motie, and Chase each taking a wicket.

After it began to rain again, the hosts' adjusted playing circumstances and goal were 184 runs in 35 overs.

However, WI fell to 48/3 as Hasan Ali (2/35) and Abrar Ahmed (1/23) did the early damage to the Windies. A 54-run partnership for the fourth wicket between captain Shai Hope (32 off 35 balls, with two fours and a six) and Sherfane Rutherford (45 off 33 balls, including four fours and three sixes) helped the WI regain control of the run chase. Mohammed Nawaz (2/17) dismissed the pair in rapid succession, leaving the hosts in a difficult position at 107/5 in 21. 2 overs.

Roston Chase (49 off 47 balls, with four fours and two sixes) and Justin Greaves (26 off 31 balls, with one six) had a productive 77-run stand, bringing the home side to a five-wicket victory with ten balls remaining.

Chase received the 'Player of the Match' title for his all-round contribution.
