Muscat: The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), through its Digital Economy and Artificial Intelligence Committee, collaborated with the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology to host the inaugural forum for CEOs of startups and companies in the technology and telecommunications sectors on Wednesday.
The forum addressed the challenges these companies encounter and explored potential solutions.
During the event, the CEOs Network was launched to enhance strategic partnerships that facilitate digital transformation. Additionally, the Ministry introduced a new platform for technology firms.
Faisal bin Abdullah Al-Rawas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of OCCI, remarked, “This gathering, which fostered open dialogue, aligns with the directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to strengthen collaboration between the public and private sectors. It also reflects the strategic goals of OCCI, which are consistent with Oman Vision 2040, aimed at improving the business landscape and promoting economic diversification, particularly in the communications and information technology sector, a key driver of diversification efforts.”
He further noted that Oman’s commitment to advancing digital transformation presents numerous opportunities for the establishment, growth, and development of startups and companies in the communications and information technology fields, complementing efforts to attract significant investments in this sector, thereby creating opportunities for entrepreneurs and innovators.
Dr. Ali Amer Al Shidhani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Communications, emphasized the critical role of collaboration between the public and private sectors in advancing the National Digital Economy Programme. He highlighted that such collaboration is essential for realizing the strategic objectives aimed at fostering the growth of the digital economy in the Sultanate of Oman.
He further elaborated that a strong partnership among various sectors is vital for the successful execution of initiatives and projects that facilitate digital transformation. This collaboration not only aids in the development of digital infrastructure but also helps create a favorable environment for investment and innovation. Additionally, he noted that the Oman Digital Vision is focused on achieving sustainable development, thereby reinforcing the Sultanate of Oman’s status as a prominent regional hub in the digital economy.
