Muscat: As part of its ongoing commitment to improving safety, the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA) is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring the protection of tourists visiting the Dhofar Governorate during the 2025 Khareef season.
Dhofar Governorate is seeing an increasing number of tourists from both within and outside the Sultanate of Oman, owing to its unusual natural features.
The CDAA has increased its field presence by establishing specialist groups at several tourist and natural sites, including wadis, beaches, highlands, and cascades. This is intended to guarantee a quick response to any situation by offering rescue and ambulance services, so protecting everyone's safety and increasing visitors' and residents' sense of security and confidence.
Furthermore, the Authority continues its awareness campaigns through advisory and awareness initiatives aimed at visitors and the local population.
These efforts aim to educate them about the potential dangers at natural locations, stress the need of following public safety rules, and discourage risky activity that might endanger others' lives.
These activities are part of the Authority's objective to cultivate a culture of prevention and improve the preparedness of its specialist teams.
These teams collaborate to carry out their tasks in compliance with the strictest safety and quick response requirements. These crews contain civil protection volunteers who check and verify that tourist attractions and businesses follow safety and risk avoidance laws.
Ambulance teams give emergency medical treatment at accident scenes, ensuring that injured persons are quickly transferred to healthcare facilities, while water rescue workers protect beaches and marine locations and respond quickly to drowning incidents; and mountain rescue teams do search and rescue operations in mountainous areas and difficult terrain to ensure that trapped and wounded persons have rapid access.
The entire team operates according to well-developed strategies for safeguarding people and property, consistent with the Authority's objective of delivering services with the highest levels of competence.
To maintain their own safety and that of their families, the Authority expects visitors to follow safety protocols and avoid approaching hazardous regions such as valleys during weather changes, refrain from crossing wadis, and avoid camping in hazardous locations.
It also stresses the importance of working with field teams and obeying directions from the appropriate authorities to ensure that everyone has a safe and comfortable time during the Dhofar Khareef season of 2025.
