Programme To Empower Omani Professionals Launched

Muscat: On Tuesday, the Ministry of Social Development initiated a protocol program aimed at engaging with individuals with disabilities and their families in the Muscat Governorate.

This initiative is a joint effort involving the Ministry of Social Development, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Labour, and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, with participation from 80 specialists.

The goal of the program is to train and empower Omani professionals to deliver sustainable and inclusive services that honor the rights of individuals with disabilities and facilitate their successful integration into society.

Additionally, it aims to raise awareness about appropriate and professional conduct when interacting with individuals with disabilities and their families, while also enhancing communication skills among professionals in the sector, ensuring that services are tailored to needs and comply with relevant international standards and conventions.

The two-day program will address key principles of effective communication, the primary challenges encountered by individuals with disabilities and their families, strategies to address their varied needs, and a summary of international conventions pertaining to their rights.

Moreover, it will include training sessions designed to cultivate a culture of communication, respect for diversity, and to equip participants with practical skills for interaction in line with established protocols.

This initiative is part of the ministry’s continuous efforts to foster social inclusion and integration, as well as to enhance the quality of services available to individuals with disabilities.
