Muscat: In collaboration with bp Oman and the Directorate General of Education in Al Dhahirah Governorate, eMushrif has successfully introduced the “Aman” initiative, which aims to upgrade conventional school buses into smart buses. This initiative focuses on improving the safety and efficiency of school transportation. By transforming standard school buses into “smart buses,” the Aman initiative seeks to enhance the daily commuting experience for students, ensuring their safety while providing reassurance to parents and school officials.
The Aman initiative has made notable progress in bolstering school transportation safety throughout Al Dhahirah Governorate, targeting 300 buses and 30 schools, and benefiting over 18,000 students. The project incorporates advanced technology specifically designed to prevent incidents of children being inadvertently left behind on buses.
Each bus is outfitted with a comprehensive safety system, which includes a push-button mechanism located at the rear of the vehicle. This feature mandates that drivers conduct a visual inspection inside the bus after each trip; if a driver forgets, a small alarm will sound as a reminder. Furthermore, motion sensors remain active for two hours after the bus has been emptied, providing an additional layer of security to ensure that no child is left behind.
Ibrahim Al Hinai, Social Investment Manager at bp Oman, Kuwait, and Qatar, stated: "At bp Oman, we are dedicated to investing in solutions that have a positive impact on the communities we serve. The Aman Project exemplifies our commitment to the safety and well-being of children in Oman. By implementing innovative technologies such as the visual check system and motion sensors, we are taking concrete measures to ensure that no child is left behind on a school bus. We take pride in supporting this initiative, which aligns with our broader vision of fostering safer, smarter, and more sustainable communities."
Zuwaina Al Mazroui, the General Manager of the Directorate of Education in Al Dhahirah Governorate, voiced her endorsement of the Aman Project, emphasizing, "The safety of our students is paramount, and the Aman Project represents a vital advancement in achieving that goal. By incorporating smart technologies into our school buses, we are enhancing safety measures that will positively impact both students and their families. This initiative is establishing a new benchmark for school transportation in the region, and we take pride in our involvement."
