Muscat: Enhancing the tourism sector's infrastructure would greatly improve the experience of both tourists and citizens during the Eid Al Fitr holidays in the various governorates of the Sultanate.
The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has made significant improvements to the investment environment, particularly for the establishment of new hotels.
According to Haitham bin Mohammed Al Ghassani, the Director General of Tourism Promotion at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, these hotel establishments now offer tailored stay packages that perfectly complement the culinary delights of the occasion. Additionally, they organize a variety of entertainment activities for both children and adults.
Recent statistics released by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism indicate that the number of hotel establishments has risen to 813, with a total of 32,821 rooms by the end of 2023. This is a notable increase from the 674 establishments and 30,332 rooms recorded in 2022.
Among these establishments, there are 29 five-star hotels with 6,267 rooms, 40 four-star hotels with 6,459 rooms, 57 three-star hotels with 4,827 rooms, 74 two-star hotels with 4,245 rooms, and 91 one-star hotels with 2,938 rooms.
In addition to traditional hotels, the Sultanate of Oman also offers unique experiences such as staying in camps, with a total of 24 camps and 704 rooms, as well as guesthouses, with 39 guesthouses and 633 rooms.
Dr. Al Mutasim bin Nasser Al Hilali, the Director of the Heritage and Tourism Department in South Al Batinah Governorate, highlighted the strategic location and beautiful coasts of South Al Batinah Governorate along the Sea of Oman, making it an ideal destination for various types of tourism.
