Ben Stokes Becomes First England Player To Secure Historic Doubles In Tests, International Cricket

Ben Stokes of England has now joined the elite company of Garry Sobers from West Indies and Jacques Kallis from South Africa as the third player, and the first from England, to achieve the milestone of scoring over 6,000 runs and taking more than 200 wickets in Test cricket. 

Stokes reached this milestone during the first Test against West Indies at Lord's by dismissing Kirk McKenzie in his first over to claim his 200th Test wicket. 

In his 103 Tests, he has taken 200 wickets and scored 6,320 runs at an average of 35.30, including 13 centuries and 31 fifties, with a highest score of 258. 

Sobers achieved 8,032 runs and 235 wickets in 93 Tests, while Kallis amassed 13,289 runs and 292 wickets in 166 Tests. 

Furthermore, Stokes is the sixth player overall and the first from England to achieve the milestone of scoring 10,000 runs and taking 300 wickets in international cricket, having played 260 matches and scored 10,368 runs at an average of 35.75, with 18 centuries and 56 fifties, and a best score of 258. He has also completed 300 wickets in international cricket. 

Other players who have achieved this feat in Tests include Carl Hooper, Sanath Jayasuriya, Shahid Afridi, and Shakib al Hasan. In the match, England won the toss and chose to field first, restricting West Indies to 121 runs in 41.4 overs, with Mikyle Louis, Kavem Hodge, and Alick Athanaze being the top scorers.

In the first innings, England established a 250-run lead and were dismissed for 371 runs, with notable half-centuries from Zak Crawley (76 off 89 balls), debutant wicketkeeper-batter Jamie Smith (70 off 119 balls), Joe Root (68 off 114 balls), Ollie Pope (57 off 74 balls), and Harry Brook (50 off 64 balls).

Jayden Seales (4/77) stood out as the top bowler for West Indies, while Jason Holder and Gudakesh Motie also claimed two wickets each.
