Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Social Development, participated in the 44th session of the Arab Women’s Committee at the Arab League on Tuesday through video conferencing. The delegation was led by Dr. Laila Ahmed Al Najjar, the Minister of Social Development.
The session focused on reviewing the Arab Women’s Development Agenda (2023-2028) and the Agenda concerning Women, Security, and Peace, along with discussions on the economic and social empowerment of women across the Arab region.
Additionally, the meeting addressed collaboration with both international and regional organizations, as well as bilateral efforts aimed at enhancing women's empowerment.
In her address, Dr. Laila highlighted that during Oman’s presidency of the 43rd session of the Arab Women’s Committee, the country prioritized strengthening institutional integration to launch and implement initiatives and programs that promote women's roles in innovation, in line with the “Declaration of Muscat as the capital of Arab women 2024.”
On February 17, 2025, Oman also took part in the Arab preparatory meeting for the 69th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) via video conference.
During this meeting, Oman reiterated its dedication to upholding human rights agreements, emphasizing the importance of dignity for all individuals and the right of women to live safely.
