Muscat: The Oman Environmental Services Holding Company (Be’ah) has entered into a financing agreement with Ahli Islamic Bank to advance the second phase of the industrial waste treatment facility located in the Sohar Freezone.
The financing, amounting to OMR51 million, will partially fund the development of a specialized station for hazardous waste treatment, improve physical and chemical treatment technologies, and establish modern facilities for managing used oils and highly toxic waste. This includes the installation of smart storage tanks and advanced infrastructure to enhance operational efficiency.
Once all phases of this integrated project are completed, it is anticipated to bolster the national economy, promote sustainability and the circular economy, and align with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040. The project aims to create an infrastructure that supports both heavy and light industrial initiatives, generate job opportunities, and maximize the inherent value of these resources, thereby contributing to in-country value (ICV).
The completion of the second phase of the integrated industrial waste treatment and disposal facility in Sohar Freezone is expected to significantly transform the waste management sector in Oman, setting new benchmarks for industrial waste treatment services in the country.
