A Surge In Inbound Visitors By 21.5 Per Cent

In February of this year, the Sultanate of Oman experienced a significant increase in the number of inbound visitors. The total number of visitors reached 389,506, which is a 21.5% increase compared to the same period in 2023 when there were 320,541 visitors. This growth can be attributed to the rise in European visitors by 33.5% and GCC visitors by 29.2%.

Specifically, 130,415 Europeans visited Oman in February, with Germany and Italy contributing 40,000 and 29,000 visitors respectively. Additionally, 95,316 visitors from Asia, including 89,000 Indian nationals, explored the Sultanate during the same period. The highest number of visitors from the GCC region came from within Oman itself, with 227,000 nationals visiting. Yemenis followed with 33,000 visitors.

On the other hand, outbound visitors from the Sultanate of Oman decreased by 23.7% in February 2024, with Omanis accounting for 72% of the 606,130 outbound visitors. In 2023, the number of outbound visitors was 807,233. 

In terms of overall visitor traffic, 746,000 visitors arrived in Oman in the first two months of this year, while 1.5 million visitors left the country. This indicates a higher number of departures than arrivals. Moreover, Muscat International Airport witnessed a 23% increase in passenger traffic, with 1,173,304 passengers in February 2024 compared to 953,534 in 2023. Salalah International Airport served 111,571 passengers during the same period.
