Seventy-seven percent of the Programmes and Performance Budget (PP Budget) in government units of the Sultanate of Oman has been successfully completed, marking progress in enhancing public finance performance.
Dr. Talib bin Ali Al Siyabi, Director of the PP Budget Programmes and Performance Budget Implementation Project, made this statement during the Ministry of Finance’s annual meeting with teams responsible for implementing the PP Budget in government units.
The meeting, which was attended by representatives from over 60 units of the State’s Administrative Apparatus, focused on reviewing the implementation progress of the PP Budget in 2023 and outlining the Ministry’s follow-up plan for 2024.
Discussions also included potential enhancements to the PP Budget’s draft document for 2025. Al Siyabi emphasized that the meeting aimed to enhance the performance of government units, align with Oman Vision 2040, and achieve strategic objectives. The meeting also aimed to connect all units with the 'Detailed Performance Document' to measure overall performance and link it with general spending.
Additionally, the Governorate of A’Dakhiliyah shared its experience in applying the PP Budget and presented an indicator set for its implementation within the context of Ejada, the institutional system overseen by the Ministry of Labour. Abdullah Salim Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Finance Ministry, highlighted the importance of this annual gathering.
