Muscat: A specialized medical team, comprising members from the departments of ENT, Head and Neck Surgery, Oral, Maxillofacial, and Facial Surgery at Al Nahda Hospital, has achieved a significant milestone by successfully conducting ten advanced surgical procedures on a diverse group of patients facing various health complications.
These procedures encompassed the surgical removal of both cancerous and benign tumors of the head and neck region, employing free flaps as a technique.
The duration of each surgery ranged from approximately 14 to 18 hours.
Dr. Rashid Mohammed Al Alawi, the Director General of Khoula Hospital, expressed his admiration for the proficiency demonstrated during these operations, highlighting the hospital's growing expertise. This achievement positions Al Nahda Hospital on a trajectory towards developing local expertise, with a focus on utilizing Omani medical staff rather than resorting to the exportation of patients for treatment abroad.
