Workshop Explores Improving Business Environment In Oman

Muscat: In collaboration with the Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion is hosting a two-day workshop entitled "Addressing Challenges in Business Practices."

Taking place in Muscat, this workshop convenes representatives from various government sectors and investors, aiming to improve the investment climate in the Sultanate of Oman in alignment with the goals of Oman Vision 2040.

The focus of the workshop is on identifying and resolving the challenges faced by investors while fostering better collaboration among government entities to create policies that facilitate the influx of foreign direct investment (FDI).

A significant aspect of the workshop is its commitment to enhancing Oman’s position in global rankings related to the ease of doing business, which is crucial for establishing the country as a preferred investment hub.

The policies under discussion are intended to simplify the processes involved in starting and managing projects, improve coordination among relevant authorities to unify efforts, promote transparency, and enhance the services available to investors.

Specifically, the workshop will address issues related to employment, commercial enterprises, free zones, financing processes, taxation, legislation, and practical measures to boost economic performance and competitiveness.

The opening ceremony featured notable attendees, including Ibtisam Ahmed Al Farooji, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion for Investment Promotion; Mahmoud Abdullah Al Owaini, Secretary General of the Ministry of Finance; Khalid Salim Al Ghammari, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour for Labour; along with various experts and officials from relevant authorities.
