Seeb: The Ministry of Transportation, Communications, and Information Technology launched a video game development camp on Sunday in partnership with the Al Nahdha Training Institute and Unity, a worldwide corporation.
The activity is part of the Makeen project, which seeks to promote Omani capabilities in modern digital areas.
The event was organized under the auspices of Dr. Ali Amer Al Shidhani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transportation, Communications, and Information Technology for Communications and Information Technology.
Jalila Abdullah Al Fanna Al Arimi, the Ministry's Future Skills Development Department Director, said at the launch ceremony that the camp would focus on 50 jobless persons with game development skills. It provides two specific tracks: programming and animation design.
She stated that the training will last 24 weeks and will include theory and practical components overseen by qualified instructors as well as local and foreign specialists. It also offers hands-on training possibilities in technology incubators, allowing participants to work on their own digital game projects, laying the framework for the development of firms capable of competing in this critical sector.
Al Arimi stated that this step is part of the investment in national digital capabilities, giving new opportunities for Omani youngsters to participate in the digital games industry, which is regarded as one of the world's most promising sectors.
She verified that the partnership with Unity, a worldwide leader in game engine and interactive technology development, is the first of its kind in Oman.
This strategic cooperation will aid in the transmission of global knowledge and skills to the participants, particularly since Unity's technology are used in more than 50% of digital games worldwide.
Sheikh Humaid Jumaa Al Shamsi, a Shura Council member representing the Wilayat of Al Buraimi and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Al Nahdha Training Institute, said that this quality program is part of efforts to equip Omani youngsters with contemporary digital skills, which have become essential foundations of sophisticated global economies.
He remarked that the egames business is more than simply entertainment; it is an integrated knowledge-based sector that combines programming, design, artificial intelligence, and artistic innovation.
