US: Former President Jimmy Carter Honoured At State Funeral

Washington, DC: The National Funeral Service for former President Jimmy Carter has begun at the Washington National Cathedral, as reported by CNN on Thursday.

The casket of President Carter has been brought into the cathedral, where family members and dignitaries have assembled to honor his memory.

CNN indicates that all living former presidents are present at the memorial service for President Jimmy Carter.

President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden occupy the front row, accompanied by Vice President Kamala Harris and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff.

Former Presidents Barack Obama, George Bush, and Bill Clinton, along with President-elect Donald Trump, are seated behind the Bidens and Vice President Harris.

Notably, Trump and Obama are positioned next to one another, engaged in an extended discussion.

Following the service, Carter's remains will be taken back to his hometown of Plains, Georgia, for a private burial at the family home that evening.

Later, President Biden is scheduled to deliver a eulogy at Jimmy Carter's funeral service at the Washington National Cathedral, as stated by the White House, marking a significant moment for the Democrat to honor his longtime friend during the final days of his presidency.

Former First Lady Melania Trump is seated at the end of the row, while former First Lady Laura Bush is positioned next to Obama.

Numerous world leaders, former vice presidents, and other dignitaries are gathered at the Washington National Cathedral in anticipation of former President Jimmy Carter's funeral.

Former Vice Presidents Mike Pence and Al Gore are positioned near the front of the church. Vice President-elect JD Vance is present alongside his wife, Usha.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who recently declared his intention to step down as the leader of his party, is also in attendance at the cathedral.
