Muscat: The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has announced a temporary halt to the mobile number portability service for all telecommunications providers in Oman, beginning Monday, August 18.
The decision intends to enable the transition to the new Central Number Portability System, which is expected to enhance service quality, accelerate digital transformation, and promote competition in the telecom sector.
The TRA confirmed that the suspension is required to enable a smooth transition to the enhanced system, which will enable consumers to keep their numbers while benefiting from improved network services in the future.
The TRA urged users to complete any outstanding number portability requests before the suspension date to avoid delays once the new system is implemented.
