MUSCAT: The Shatti Al Qurum Water Front buzzed with energy over the weekend as hundreds gathered to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Times of Oman.
Taking place on February 21 and 22 from 5 pm to 9 pm, the event served as a heartfelt homage to the newspaper’s extensive history, uniting long-time readers, inquisitive newcomers, and a variety of engaging activities.
Attendees flocked to the Times of Oman booths to discover the publication’s journey and benefit from special subscription offers.
Large cutouts of significant front pages, illustrating the newspaper’s development since its inaugural edition in 1975, captured the attention of many, providing a nostalgic experience for participants.
Adding to the vintage atmosphere, a Times of Oman reader displayed his immaculate 1967 Ford Mustang—older than the newspaper itself—complete with its original license plate from that year.
Additionally, some guests fully embraced the nostalgia by donning outfits reminiscent of 1975, which contributed to the retro vibe of the event. The atmosphere was vibrant with music, interactive podcasts, and lively discussions about the Times of Oman’s influence over the years.
