Smart Parking Project Launched In Muscat

Muscat: In collaboration with the private sector, the Muscat Municipality has announced the deployment of vehicle imaging sensors within paid public parking areas in the Al Khuwair and Al Ghubra regions.

The municipality has stated that the primary objective of this initiative is to foster the transition towards the development of smart and sustainable urban environments.

In a press release, the municipality has communicated, "Muscat Municipality wishes to notify the public of the commencement of operations for vehicle imaging sensors, which are integrated into the municipality's efforts to enhance its infrastructure towards the development of smart and sustainable urban areas, in collaboration with the private sector. It is important to note that these sensors will be installed in public parking areas within the Al Khuwair and Al Ghubrah regions, and will be operational from Sunday, October 13, 2024."

Furthermore, the municipality has clarified that the process for reserving parking spaces is through an SMS service at the number 90091. Users are required to input the vehicle license plate number, followed by the license plate code, and then specify the desired duration of parking in minutes (30, 60, 120), or through the Baldiyati application.

Additionally, beneficiaries are encouraged to utilize the Muscat Municipality website to obtain parking permits for durations of one month or longer. It is important to be aware that there is a grace period of five minutes before any parking violations are issued.
