Muscat: On Sunday, Taher Mubkhoot Al-Junaibi, the Deputy Chairman of the Shura Council, welcomed a delegation from the British Parliament at the Council’s headquarters.
This visit is part of ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing the bilateral relationship between the Sultanate of Oman and the United Kingdom, particularly in the areas of parliamentary and legislative collaboration.
During the meeting, Al-Junaibi extended a warm welcome to the delegation, wishing them a pleasant visit and highlighting the deep-rooted historical connections between the two nations.
He emphasized the necessity of continually strengthening parliamentary ties between the Shura Council and the UK House of Commons.
The delegation expressed their appreciation for the hospitality received, underscoring the importance of advancing parliamentary cooperation to benefit both nations.
Al-Junaibi provided insights into the Shura Council’s evolution in Oman, detailing its legislative functions and discussing significant draft laws currently under review.
Following the meeting, the delegation toured the Council building, which included a visit to the deliberation chamber, where they were introduced to the established voting procedures, as well as a visit to the Oman Council Library.
This visit is part of ongoing efforts to bolster parliamentary and diplomatic relations between Oman and the United Kingdom. Such interactions promote the exchange of parliamentary knowledge and experiences, enhance mutual understanding on common issues, and support the development of bilateral relations across various sectors.
The meeting was attended by Council members Abdullah Al-Hinai and Ahmed Al-Shahi.
