"Confident That My Visits To Japan, China Would Further Our National Interests": PM Modi

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi remarked on Thursday that he is optimistic about his two-nation trip to Japan and China, since it will deepen India's national interests and goals, while promoting regional and global peace and security.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi left New Delhi on Thursday for a two-day official trip to Japan, which is planned for August 29-30 to attend the 15th India-Japan Annual Summit. This is his first solo trip to Japan in nearly seven years.

In his departure address, PM Modi said, At the request of Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, I will undertake a two-day trip to Japan for the 15th Annual Summit. During my stay, we will work on defining the next stage in our Special Strategic and Global Partnership, which has made continuous and considerable progress over the last eleven years.

We would work to give our cooperation new impetus, broaden the scope and ambition of our commercial and investment relationships, and promote collaboration in New and developing technology such as AI and Semiconductors. The visit will also provide chance to solidify civilizational and cultural links that bind our nations, he said.

Following his visit to Japan, the Prime Minister will travel to China for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in Tianjin.

At the invitation of President Xi Jinping, I will travel to China from Japan to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in Tianjin. India is an active and helpful member of the SCO. During our Presidency, we have brought fresh ideas and encouraged cooperation in the areas of creativity, health, and cultural exchanges, according to Prime Minister Modi.

According to Prime Minister Modi, India is dedicated to working with SCO countries to tackle common issues and expand regional collaboration.

I also look forward to meeting with President Xi Jinping, President Putin, and other leaders on the margins of the Summit, he added.

Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh told Parliament earlier this month that the SCO's primary goals and duties are specified. Article 1 of its Charter, titled "Goals and Tasks," outlines its goals and tasks. One of the primary aims is to jointly confront terrorism, separatism, and extremism in all of their forms, as well as to combat illicit narcotics and weapons trade, among other things. Types of transnational crime include drug trafficking and illegal immigration.
