Athens: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has taken first place in the International Road Federation (IRF) Awards for Road Safety, acknowledging its innovative work in improving traffic safety through smart technologies and data analysis.
The prize specifically recognizes ROP's application of artificial intelligence in traffic control, which was developed in partnership with Huawei Oman.
During a ceremony in Athens, Brigadier Eng. Ali Suleim Al Falahi, Director General of Traffic, received the prize on behalf of ROP.
This accomplishment highlights ROP's innovative efforts in creating intelligent traffic monitoring systems, accident data analysis, and AI-powered solutions for identifying and scientifically addressing high-risk road locations. These efforts have helped to lower accident rates and increase response efficiency, in keeping with the Sultanate of Oman's aim to support Oman Vision 2040 goals.
The IRF Awards, presented each year by the world's foremost transportation infrastructure organization, honor projects and initiatives that have a measurable impact on the growth and improvement of global road networks and safety standards.
