PM Modi, US NSA Mike Waltz Hold Discussion On Deepening Strategic Ties

Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a meeting with U.S. National Security Advisor Mike Waltz at Blair House in Washington, DC, on Thursday. The discussion focused on enhancing strategic relations between India and the United States, as well as tackling global security issues.

During the meeting, PM Modi expressed his appreciation for Waltz, highlighting him as a steadfast ally of India. The Prime Minister emphasized that defense, technology, and security are crucial components of the India-U.S. partnership, and the dialogue with Waltz revolved around these key areas.

In a post on X, PM Modi remarked, "Had a productive meeting with NSA @michaelgwaltz. He has consistently been a great friend of India. Defense, technology, and security are vital elements of India-U.S. relations, and we had an excellent discussion on these topics. There is significant potential for collaboration in areas such as AI, semiconductors, space, and more."

Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), also took to X to provide insights about the meeting between Waltz and PM Modi.

"PM @narendramodi met with U.S. National Security Advisor @michaelgwaltz at Blair House today in Washington, D.C. They engaged in a meaningful exchange of views on strengthening India-U.S. strategic ties and addressing global security challenges," Jaiswal posted on X.

PM Modi, who arrived in the U.S. on Wednesday (local time), is set to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House and will also engage with Indian-origin entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy at Blair House.

This marks PM Modi's first visit to the United States since Donald Trump began his second term in office. India's Ambassador to the U.S., Vinay Mohan Kwatra, along with other officials, welcomed PM Modi at the airport.

Upon his arrival in the United States, Prime Minister Modi expressed his eagerness to engage with the US President and to further develop the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.

"I have just landed in Washington DC and am looking forward to meeting @POTUS Donald Trump to enhance the India-USA Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership. Our countries will continue to collaborate closely for the benefit of our citizens and to create a better future for our planet," PM Modi shared on X.

PM Modi's visit to the US follows a three-day trip to France, where he participated in various events focused on topics such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), commerce, energy, and cultural connections. During his time in France, he co-chaired the AI Action Summit, which brought together world leaders and prominent tech CEOs.
