Partial Opening Of Sultan Said Bin Taimur Road Announced In Duqm

Duqm: The Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD) has announced the commencement of traffic on sections of Sultan Said bin Taimur Road in Duqm.

This road acts as a primary artery in the Wilayat of Duqm, linking SEZAD to Muscat Governorate in the north via the Duqm–Mahout–Sinaw road, and connecting the region to Dhofar Governorate and the Wilayats of Haima and Al Jazer in the south.

Eng. Ahmed Ali Akaak, the CEO of SEZAD, mentioned that Sultan Said bin Taimur Road is an essential corridor within SEZAD. It showcases the Zone's dedication to enhancing its road infrastructure to international benchmarks in terms of quality, safety, and traffic flow.

He confirmed in a press release that the Road is designed to link industrial and urban locales with a modern, interconnected system of roads and bridges. This system is crafted to cater to the business climate in the area, in harmony with the growth of investments, urban expansion, and population increase within the economic zone, especially with the rise in projects being undertaken there.

Sultan Said bin Taimur Road within SEZAD features three lanes in each direction, with an unpaved central median adorned with aesthetically pleasing interlocking tiles, and shoulders on both sides. The Road is outfitted with traffic lights at intersections, LED lighting, box culverts for rainwater and wadi drainage, traffic safety measures, and signage indicating zones for investment, tourism, and commerce.

The construction of Sultan Said bin Taimur Road is in line with the objectives of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ) to boost road efficiency and improve public services within SEZAD.

The Oman Company for the Development of SEZAD, the agency responsible for infrastructure development, is in the process of finishing the remaining segments of the Road, which are scheduled to be opened in phases in the near future.
