Al Dakhiliyah Governorate Prepares To Inaugurate Al Jabal Al Akhdar Park

Al Jabal Al Akhdar: The Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar in A'Dakhiliyah Governorate is cementing its position as a popular tourist destination by launching high-quality tourism and recreational projects.

Foremost among these is the Al Jabal Al Akhdar Park, which is being built in Seeh Qatnah, as well as the newly inaugurated Celebration Square, which hosted the opening events of the Al Jabal Al Akhdar Festival 2025.

Sheikh Sultan Mansour Al Ghafili, the Wali of Al Jabal Al Akhdar, announced that the wilayat is experiencing real developmental advancements, demonstrating an integrated aim to boost infrastructure and quality of life. He emphasised that these initiatives are in line with Oman Vision 2040, which aims to turn the wilayat's natural and cultural assets into sustainable development prospects with immediate social and economic benefits.

In a statement to the Oman News Agency (ONA), he stressed that the Al Jabal Al Akhdar Park project is moving quickly, with more than 85% of completion. The park will officially open to visitors in August 2025, at a cost of more than OMR 1.1 million.

Covering 20,000 square meters, the park has combined recreational and service facilities, such as a 1,000-square-meter children's play area, sports paths, and investment zones containing a café, a shop, and an electric games section, as well as prayer rooms and restrooms for men and women.

The park also has a multipurpose open-air theater and 5,000 square meters of green space planted with 150 trees and 400 shrubs, as well as natural vegetation to improve the site's appearance, making it a year-round recreational destination.

He confirmed that these initiatives enhance the wilayat's tourist attractiveness, offer community platforms for national festivities, support small and medium enterprises, and promote local growth by creating jobs and increasing economic activity.

He went on to say that Al Jabal Al Akhdar, in collaboration with the Al Dakhiliyah Governor's Office, ensures that these efforts serve as foundations for holistic, sustainable development that promotes innovation and reinforces Omani identity.

Future plans include more efforts to entice qualitative investments in ecotourism, smart agriculture, and community services, with a focus on collaboration between government agencies, the commercial sector, and local communities to guarantee a holistic and sustainable effect, he said.

During his turn, Eng. Mohammed Ali Al Wardi, Director of the Projects Department at Al Dakhiliyah Municipality, emphasized that the park project aligns with the governorate's goal of expanding public spaces and enhancing urban environments. He emphasized that the recently opened Celebration Square in Seeh Qatnah is a significant cultural and tourist infrastructure project, planned as a multifunctional space that complements the geography of Al Jabal Al Akhdar.

The square includes a primary performance space, parking, restrooms, and family rest areas, making it an excellent location for seasonal and national events. It has become a highlight for tourists to the Al Jabal Al Akhdar Festival 2025, which includes cultural, artistic, and recreational events as well as displays of local handicrafts and agricultural products, therefore promoting entrepreneurship and local economic development.

Al Wardi stated that these initiatives are part of a larger plan to establish Al Jabal Al Akhdar as a sustainable tourist destination, integrating infrastructure expansion with environmental preservation to strengthen the governorate's position on Oman’s tourism and investment map.
