Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day Celebrated With Mango Festival

MUSCAT: The Pakistan Embassy, in conjunction with the Pakistani community in Oman, held a Mango Festival to commemorate Pakistan's 79th Independence Day at the Inter City Hotel Muscat.

It was the first such festival in many years. His Excellency Juma Al Redha, Oman's former Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) Chairman, was the chief guest.

Legendary cricketer Syed Inzamam ul Haq and famous Pakistani journalists Syed Talat Hussain and Asma Sherazi were the guests of honour.

On the eve of Pakistan's Independence Day, Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman, Dr. Naveed Safdar Bukhari, welcomed visitors and stated: "We were delighted to host legendary cricketer Inzamam ul Haq at Pakistan House yesterday. We explored methods for promoting cricket in Oman with the help of the Pakistani community. It is also an opportunity to share the sweetness of delectable Pakistani mangoes, which are well-known around the world and exported to the United States and numerous Western countries. We also distributed our produce to the Omani community and others, receiving excellent feedback. Pakistan offers a wide selection of this fruit, often called the "King of Fruits" in Pakistan.

Several prominent Omani authorities, Muscat-based ambassadors, members of the diplomatic corps, and a large number of Pakistani community people attended the event.

The video showcased mango farming and harvesting in Pakistan.

Local performer Farhan performed flute versions of well-known Pakistani national songs.

The Pakistan Ambassador stated that August 14, 2025, was not just a day to commemorate our freedom, but also to thank Allah Almighty for providing Pakistan with the most productive property.

It was also an opportunity to commend the ingenuity of our farmers, who work tirelessly to transform that gift into some of the world's most sought-after agricultural goods, notably the sweetest mangoes in the world. The Ambassador hoped that the event will pave the door for selling Pakistani mangoes to broader sectors of the Omani public and boosting Pakistani mango exports to Oman.

Mangoes from Pakistan are very popular in Oman. There is increasing global demand for naturally ripened, chemical-free fruit. Pakistani mango farms are gaining access to premium merchants throughout Europe, East Asia, and North America with certification assistance and traceability solutions.
