Over 8,000 Seedlings Distributed In Al Dhahirah To Boost Vegetation Cover

Ibri: The pastoral nursery associated with the Directorate General of Agricultural Wealth and Water Resources in A'Dhahirah Governorate saw a substantial increase in the number of seedlings given to recipients in 2024, exceeding 8,000 seedlings of different types.

The Directorate emphasised that pastoral plants are important aspects of the local environment because they grow naturally and resist harsh climatic conditions, helping to protect soil, enhance vegetation cover, and create appropriate habitat for wildlife.

According to a statement issued to the Oman News Agency (ONA), the nursery produced around 8,347 pastoral seedlings, which were distributed to 385 beneficiaries, including farmers, beekeepers, and numerous government and private organizations.

The distributed seedlings included a variety of native species that had ecological and economic value.

These plants are supplied free to livestock ranchers, honeybee producers, rural women, and farmers to help improve soil quality and provide the nectar needed to make high-quality local honey, particularly Sidr and Samar honey, which increases economic profits for recipients.

Through this program, the Directorate aims to engage the local community in environmental protection activities, promote shared environmental responsibility, and maintain natural resources in accordance with national goals for supporting the green economy and developing rural Oman.
