Muscat: On Wednesday, the Joint Omani-Jordanian Maritime Committee convened in Muscat to evaluate collaborative efforts within the maritime sector.
The committee explored strategies to strengthen the partnership between the two nations, focusing on safety and security, marine environmental protection, and maritime education and training.
Both parties emphasized the necessity of ongoing coordination and collaborative efforts to enhance the maritime transport system and improve integration among relevant departments in both countries, aiming to achieve mutual interests and support sustainable development in this crucial sector.
During the two-day meeting, participants discussed ways to implement the maritime transport agreement previously signed by the two nations, as well as the memorandum for mutual recognition of seafarers’ certificates, which will aid in advancing the maritime sector and fostering future cooperation between Oman and Jordan.
The Omani delegation was led by Eng. Khamis Mohammed Al Shamakhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Transport, while the Jordanian delegation was headed by Eng. Omar Mustafa Al Dabbas, Director General of the Jordanian Maritime Authority.
