Muscat: On Wednesday evening, the physiotherapy course organized by the Oman Olympic Committee (OOC), through the Oman Sports Medicine Committee, came to a successful conclusion. This three-day course, held at the Oman Olympic Academy, attracted physiotherapists from various sports federations and committees, along with healthcare professionals from local hospitals. The sessions were led by Dr. Nasreen Hamada, a physiotherapy expert from Egypt.
The primary objective of the course was to enhance participants' knowledge and practical skills in managing sports injuries, first aid, diagnosis, and treatment. The first day featured an introduction to the course's goals, along with a thorough overview of sports injuries and relevant first aid protocols. Participants also engaged in practical training focused on diagnosing and treating sports injuries.
The second day delved into specific injuries affecting the shoulder, knee, and ankle joints. Each injury type was examined in detail, followed by practical training on diagnostic and treatment techniques. The course will wrap up this evening with an intensive practical session on diagnosing and treating sports injuries, culminating in a closing ceremony where certificates will be awarded and participants recognized.
This initiative is part of the Oman Sports Medicine Committee's commitment to fostering and enhancing national expertise in physiotherapy, with the aim of improving the effectiveness of professionals in this essential field and boosting athletic performance. The event saw significant engagement from attendees, who actively participated in both theoretical discussions and practical exercises.
Dr. Nasreen Hamada highlighted the significance of this course in enhancing the skills of participants, noting that the hands-on training offers valuable insights into the latest therapeutic methods for managing sports injuries. She also emphasized the critical role of physiotherapy in enhancing athletes' performance and preventing future injuries.
The physiotherapy course is an important component of a broader initiative by the Oman Sports Medicine Committee, which seeks to elevate performance standards in sports medicine. By implementing these programs, the committee aims to foster a holistic sports environment that improves athletes' preparedness and addresses their physical and health requirements.
