Oman Rains: Wilayat Of Sur Records 215 Mm Rainfall In Three Days

Muscat: The Wilayat of Sur within the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate has documented the highest rainfall total in the Sultanate of Oman, attributed to tropical conditions, which amounted to 215 millimeters over a span of three days from October 14 to October 16, 2024.

Data provided by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources (MAFWR) indicates that the Wilayat of Sur experienced the highest rainfall volume due to tropical weather, reaching 215 millimeters, surpassed only by the Wilayat of Qurayyat in Muscat Governorate with 170 millimeters, and the Wilayat of Muscat itself with 100 millimeters, during the same period.

In contrast, the Wilayat of Jalan Bani Bu Ali in the North Al Sharqiyah Governorate received rainfall of 94 millimeters, with 68 millimeters in the Wilayat of Muttrah within Muscat Governorate, 52 millimeters in the Wilayat of Dima Wattayyen in the same governorate, 33 millimeters in the Wilayat of Wadi Bani Khalid, located in the same governorate, 31 millimeters in the Wilayat of Masirah in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, and 27 millimeters in the Wilayat of Amerat in Muscat Governorate.

The Wilayat of Ibra in the North Al Sharqiyah Governorate recorded rainfall of 22 millimeters, with 16 millimeters in the Wilayat of Baushar in Muscat Governorate, 12 millimeters in the Wilayat of Seeb in the same governorate, 11 millimeters in the Wilayat of Al Qabil in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate, and 9 millimeters in the Wilayat of Al Kamil and Al Wafi in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate.
