Oman, Qatar Sign MoU To Upgrade Cooperation In Environment Conservation

Muscat: On Tuesday, the Sultanate of Oman and the State of Qatar formalized a memorandum of understanding (MoU) as part of a five-year executive program focused on environmental conservation for the period 2025-2029.

The agreement was signed by Dr. Abdullah Ali Al Amri, Chairman of the Environment Authority for Oman, and Abdulaziz Ahmad Al Mahmoud, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change for Qatar.

This MoU was finalized during Oman Climate Week, which is currently taking place at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC).

Under the terms of the MoU, both nations will collaborate on joint projects, explore funding opportunities, engage in relevant studies and research, organize visits to habitats of endangered species, and work together to combat invasive species.

Additionally, the MoU outlines the exchange of expertise in tackling land degradation and enhancing vegetation restoration efforts. The two parties will also undertake a joint study to identify successful models for implementing sustainable management plans for nature reserves, along with proposals for twinning initiatives among wildlife reserves.
