Oman Participates In International Labour Conference In Geneva

Geneva: On Tuesday, the Sultanate of Oman joined the 113th session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva, as well as participate in regional GCC coordination and extension meetings.

During the session, the International Labour Organization (ILO) approved a draft resolution to alter Palestine's membership status from liberation movement to nonmember observer state, as well as recognize Palestine's right to complete participation in ILO meetings.

During the conference, the Sultanate of Oman strongly participated to the approval of the ILO's draught resolution to modify Palestine's membership status. The move reinforced Oman's dedication to defending the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and advocating for justice in international forums.

The Sultanate of Oman's delegation participated in a GCCILO coordination meeting held on the sidelines of the ILO conference to discuss important agenda items such as an ILO Director-General report and a draft budget programme for the years 2026-2027. The delegation also coordinated GCC positions on a number of technical concerns that were circulated for discussion during meetings of specialized committees.

Furthermore, Oman attended an enlarged meeting with production organizations from GCC countries. During the meetings, Oman stated its unwavering commitment to support trilateral talks and reconcile GCC perspectives on the technical issues on the agenda for the 113th ILO conference session.

The meeting covered important themes pertaining to the working environment and the obstacles that it faces. The conversation addressed the draft convention on responsibilities relating to the digital platform economy, strategies for protecting against biological hazards in the workplace, novel approaches, and other aspects of the labour market.
