Oman Participates In Arab, International Meetings In Syria

Riyadh: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by its Foreign Ministry, participated today in an expanded Arab meeting focused on Syria. This gathering, held in Riyadh, aimed to discuss both regional and international initiatives to foster stability in Syria and promote political resolutions to the ongoing crisis.

Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, the Foreign Minister and head of Oman's delegation, remarked, "This meeting signifies a crucial advancement in efforts to assist Syria in reclaiming its rightful position within the Arab, regional, and international community."

He emphasized the necessity of collaborative efforts to fulfill the aspirations of the Syrian people in determining their future, as well as achieving security, unity, development, and reconstruction. Additionally, he highlighted the urgent need to lift international economic sanctions imposed on Syria.

Sayyid Badr also reiterated the importance of urging the United Nations and the Security Council to fulfill their responsibilities by taking decisive actions to ensure Israel's withdrawal from Mount Hermon, Quneitra Governorate, and all other Syrian territories, while adhering to the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.

He noted that the meeting demonstrated a constructive spirit of collective cooperation and shared responsibility in supporting Syria and enhancing peace and stability in the region.

The meeting was attended by the Foreign Ministers from the GCC states, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and Egypt.

Sayyid Badr led the delegation from the Sultanate of Oman at an expanded international ministerial meeting focused on Syria, which took place in Riyadh. The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen both regional and international collaboration in supporting Syria's political transition, ensuring security and stability, advancing reconstruction and economic recovery efforts, and protecting the unity and sovereignty of Syrian territory.

Attendees included foreign ministers from GCC nations, their counterparts from Arab and allied countries, the United Nations envoy to Syria, and a representative from the European Union.
