OCCI Committee Studies Remarks On Wage Protection System’s Application

Muscat: The Labour Market Committee of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) convened for its inaugural meeting of 2025, chaired by Mohammed Hassan Al A'nasi, the committee's head.

The agenda included discussions on feedback from business owners regarding the implementation of the Wage Protection System and the related penalties.

The meeting underscored OCCI’s commitment to examining the effects of the Wage Protection System on private sector entities.

This examination, conducted in collaboration with relevant authorities, aims to identify practical solutions that align with the interests of all stakeholders, promote economic growth, and ensure the creation and sustainability of job opportunities.

The Committee, through OCCI’s official channels, emphasized its ongoing vigilance regarding the challenges encountered by business owners. It collaborates with government agencies to enhance the business climate and formulate policies that bolster the national economy, contributing to the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.

During the session, the committee explored strategies to improve the work environment and advance the labour market in accordance with Oman Vision 2040. It also reviewed its key accomplishments from the previous year, highlighting the challenges faced and the solutions implemented.

Additionally, the Committee monitored its initiatives aimed at refining labour legislation and fostering a balance between employers and employees. The importance of sustaining these efforts to enhance the resilience of Oman’s labour market was a key point of emphasis during the meeting.
