Muscat Governorate Raises Awareness On E-Payment Service For Traffic Accident Damage

Muscat: Muscat Governorate continues to raise awareness about eservices related with the municipal sector.

One of the digital engagement efforts undertaken as part of the 2025 plan to assist decision-making in digital transformation sectors is requesting reimbursement for damage caused by traffic accidents to public facilities.

This service enables beneficiaries to easily conduct their transactions online via the unified government eservices platform, in accordance with the governorate's goals to promote digital transformation and streamline processes.

This service seeks to provide a letter of clearance certifying the payment of damage expenses for public amenities such as lighting poles, roads, and landscaping in accordance with existing rules.

These rules need that the individual who caused the event, or their representative, provide a copy of their identity card, a large damages evaluation form from the Royal Oman Police, and a technical report from the appropriate Muscat Municipality agency explaining the damages.

It is also necessary that there be no legitimate insurance and that the accident be caused by circumstances not covered by insurance, such as exceptional conditions, including the accident occurring while the person accountable was in an unusual condition.

To access the service, candidates must submit their request online and attach the necessary papers.

The specialist employee then examines and approves the application, notifies the recipient to complete the payment, and obtains the clearance letter.

Depending on the submission of all required papers and information, the transaction is finished in one to five business days.

Applications may be made via the Unified Government eservices gateway or at Sanad Service locations.

The Muscat Governorate conducted a survey to evaluate public awareness of this service, followed by awareness campaigns on its digital media channels to clarify the procedures for benefiting from the service and simplify the application process.

As a result, it increases the acceptance of emunicipal services while also improving engagement with beneficiaries.
