MTCIT Signs Agreements For Raysut-Mughsail Road Dualisation And Ai-powered Employment Platform

Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology (MTCIT) has formalized an agreement at Alila Resort in the Wilayat of Mirbat for the dualization of the Raysut-Mughsail road, partnering with Oman Construction Company in Salalah, with a total investment of OMR 35 million.

In addition, the Ministry has entered into a contract with Future Innovation Company to develop an artificial intelligence-based electronic platform focused on employment opportunities.

The agreements were executed by His Excellency Eng. Khamis bin Mohammed Al Shamakhy, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Transport. Saeed bin Muslim Masn Al Kathiri, Chairman of the Board of Directors, represented Oman Construction Company, while Dr. Mashail bint Awad Al Saiyariyah, CEO of Future Innovation Company, signed on behalf of her organization. The signing ceremony was graced by the presence of His Highness Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar, and His Excellency Eng. Said bin Hamoud Al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology.

The dualization initiative for the Raysut-Mughsail road aims to create a 33-kilometer dual carriageway featuring two lanes in each direction. This project encompasses the construction of six overpasses and underpasses, animal crossings, and roundabouts, effectively linking the Raysut area to Mughsail. Additionally, it includes a 5.5-kilometer connection from November 18 Road to the dual carriageway, facilitating access from Salalah center to the western region of Dhofar Governorate, as well as connecting to the Sarfayt border crossing with the Republic of Yemen.

His Highness Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar, underscored the significance of this project in enhancing the logistical, economic, and social aspects of Dhofar Governorate. The road will traverse Salalah Port and the Free Zone, thereby amplifying the economic impact of these areas and their associated logistical services. It is anticipated that the road will invigorate commercial, economic, and investment activities within the region. Furthermore, it will pass by several tourist attractions in the governorate, including the Iftilqoot area and Mughsail Beach, extending to the Wilayats of Rakhyut and Dhalkut. This accessibility is expected to boost tourism in the governorate and facilitate the development of new tourist destinations.

His Excellency Eng. Khamis bin Mohammed Al Shamakhy, Undersecretary for Transport, emphasized the project's role in fulfilling the Ministry's strategic plan to enhance the primary roadways in the governorate. The development will involve expanding the road to two lanes and constructing multiple overpasses and underpasses, which will improve traffic flow. The road will also adhere to all traffic safety standards as outlined in the Omani Road Design Manual, ensuring high quality and efficiency that can withstand various weather conditions.

He also mentioned that the Raysut-Mughsail road project will connect with the Mughsail Road and Bridge initiative, for which an agreement was signed by the Ministry last year. This project spans two kilometers and features a 630-meter-long concrete bridge, supported by 20 columns and two side abutments, adorned with six decorative arches. Additionally, it encompasses the creation of parking areas on both sides of the road and a well-lit pedestrian pathway, along with an underpass to facilitate access to other tourist attractions. The completion of these projects is expected to significantly enhance the road infrastructure in the governorate.

The agreement with Future Innovation Company entails the development of a comprehensive smart employment platform that utilizes cutting-edge generative AI technologies to assess and evaluate candidates. This initiative aims to improve the quality of hiring decisions, decrease the time required for application screening, and increase transparency in the talent selection process.
