Muscat: The Ministry of Labour (MoL) has launched a new initiative aimed at enhancing the regulation of the labour market by increasing inspection activities through the Inspection Unit of the Security and Safety Services Corporation. This unit commenced its operations on 5 January 2025, with an official announcement made by the Ministry on 16 February 2025.
This initiative is part of the Ministry's comprehensive strategy to improve the effectiveness of labour inspections and ensure adherence to labour laws. The primary goals include:
1. Strengthening the regulation of the labour market.
2. Enhancing compliance with the Labour Law and its related regulations.
3. Addressing illegal and unauthorized employment while minimizing violations.
4. Generating job and employment opportunities for the Omani workforce.
The Inspection Unit will be responsible for monitoring compliance with employment regulations, especially regarding expatriate workers, under the Ministry's oversight. Violations will continue to be reported through the Ministry’s electronic reporting system available on its official website.
