Marking His Majesty’s Visit, Dutch PM Hosts Working Lunch

The Hague: In a display of joy regarding the Royal visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, and to foster collaboration between the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof hosted a working lunch.

The gathering took place at the Dutch government headquarters in The Hague and was attended by King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands and his wife, Queen Máxima.

During the event, His Majesty delivered a speech, which included the following remarks:

“Your Majesty,

Mr. Prime Minister,

I appreciate your kind words and generous hospitality.

The Netherlands is well-regarded in Oman for its dedication to open dialogue, its focus on peace, and its efforts toward global understanding. These principles resonate with us, as our nations share a rich maritime history characterized by exploration and curiosity, making it natural that these Dutch attributes are also integral to Oman’s cultural identity.

I am thrilled to be here today, not only to honor our common values but also to seek new avenues for strengthening our relationship.

The strong bond and partnership between Oman and the Netherlands are rooted in a shared legacy of maritime trade, resulting in a vibrant strategic alliance where we align our aspirations and enhance each other’s capabilities. This collaboration has fostered innovative initiatives that promote our mutual goals and interests in logistics, trade, and sustainable manufacturing, utilizing the unique expertise of both our countries.

Your Majesty,

Mr. Prime Minister,

In addition to our trade and industrial ties, the Netherlands has established itself as a respected partner in the fields of innovation and education. We are witnessing a growing number of Omani students enrolling in Dutch educational institutions, and we eagerly anticipate the arrival of Dutch students who will pursue their studies in Oman.

As we adapt to a changing global environment, Oman takes pride in our strong collaboration with the Netherlands regarding the energy transition. Our shared emphasis on green hydrogen and our broader goal of creating energy exchange corridors demonstrate our joint commitment to a cleaner and more sustainable future. Oman welcomes Dutch expertise, investment, and technology as we embark on this transformative journey together.

Your Majesty,

Mr. Prime Minister,

The most profound and lasting connection between our nations lies in the relationship between our peoples. The mutual trust, respect, and admiration shared by our communities ensure that our friendship will flourish for generations. As we continue to uphold our shared values of justice, multilateralism, and the rule of law, I am confident in our ability to collaborate in promoting global peace and stability.

I am eager to further enhance this partnership. This visit has been a significant opportunity to reaffirm our dedication to dialogue, sustainability, and peace. These principles will enable us to take meaningful steps toward achieving our common goals.

Please accept my heartfelt gratitude for your warm hospitality and your steadfast commitment to strengthening the Omani-Dutch partnership. I look forward to the numerous opportunities that await us.

Thank you.
