Low Pressure Area Over Arabian Sea Likely To Affect Oman Weather

Muscat: Recent satellite imagery reveals the emergence of a low-pressure system east of the Arabian Sea, extending along the western coastline of the Republic of India. This development is anticipated to result in rainfall across certain regions of the Sultanate of Oman on Friday, October 18, 2024, as declared by the General Directorate of Meteorology.

The Directorate has issued a warning, noting that wind speeds are presently fluctuating between 10 to 15 knots. Additionally, there is a possibility of cumulonimbus cloud formation and sporadic rainfall of varying intensities, accompanied by thunderstorms. The presence of active descending winds could lead to the overflow of valleys in the Al Hajar Mountains, adjacent areas, and the Dhofar Governorate in the afternoon and evening hours.
