Muscat: The Italian tall ship Amerigo Vespucci has made its inaugural visit to the Sultanate of Oman. Upon its arrival at Sultan Qaboos Port in the Muscat Governorate, Commodore Jasem bin Mohammed Al Balushi, Senior Staff Officer of the Royal Navy of Oman, welcomed the vessel.
This visit is part of the 32nd phase of the Amerigo Vespucci's two-year global expedition, which commenced on July 1, 2023, from the Port of Genoa, Italy.
The arrival ceremony included performances by the Royal Navy of Oman’s band, which played the Italian national anthem along with other military musical selections. Additionally, traditional Omani maritime arts were presented, emphasizing the cultural and maritime ties between Oman and Italy.
The purpose of this visit is to enhance the friendship and peace between the two countries while celebrating their shared maritime and cultural heritage, reflecting the international journeys undertaken by both the Shabab Oman II and the Amerigo Vespucci.
The event was attended by the Italian Ambassador to Oman and various senior officials from the Royal Navy of Oman.
