Information Ministry Organises “Oman & The World” Media Gathering

Muscat: In celebration of His Majesty the Sultan’s Accession Day, the Ministry of Information organized a media event titled "Oman & the World" yesterday, bringing together numerous media professionals and journalists from various countries.

The purpose of the gathering was to showcase the Sultanate of Oman's commitment to fostering international peace and security, as well as to promote the message of peace across various issues. Additionally, it aimed to highlight the advancements in Oman’s heritage, tourism, and real estate sectors, along with the key investment opportunities and the social protection framework in place.

The event featured several ministers, including Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister; Salim Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism; Dr. Laila Ahmed Al Najjar, Minister of Social Development; and Dr. Khalfan Said Al Shu’aili, Minister of Housing and Urban Development. Dr. Abdullah Nassir Al Harrasi, Minister of Information, was also present.

The Minister of Information emphasized that hosting international media professionals reflects the Sultanate of Oman’s dedication to promoting values of security, understanding, and peaceful coexistence among diverse nations and peoples.

In a press statement, the minister noted that the Ministry of Information collaborates with relevant authorities to highlight and promote Oman’s economic and commercial potential, as well as its attractive investment climate and competitive environment. He pointed out the country’s well-developed infrastructure, strategic geographical location, supportive legislation, and the rich array of unique tourism attractions available.

The minister emphasized that such gatherings would provide valuable insights to media professionals and journalists regarding the achievements of the Omani Renewed Renaissance, as outlined in "Oman Vision 2040," while also highlighting cultural, scientific, and civilizational dimensions.

The Foreign Minister discussed the principles of Omani foreign policy, which include respect for state sovereignty and non-interference in the internal matters of other nations. He also underscored the importance of fostering cooperative and friendly relations with countries worldwide, reaffirming the Sultanate of Oman’s dedication to its regional and international responsibilities as a proponent of peace and dialogue.

Additionally, the Minister of Heritage and Tourism stated that the Sultanate of Oman places significant emphasis on the tourism sector as a key component of Oman Vision 2040. He presented various tourism metrics and projects accomplished over the past five years, along with future initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable development within the Sultanate.

Furthermore, the Minister of Social Development highlighted key achievements, metrics, plans, programs, and future goals across various sectors under the Ministry's purview, including social care and protection, family and community development, as well as the empowerment and role of women.

The Minister of Housing and Urban Planning addressed the urban strategy across various governorates in the Sultanate of Oman, aligning with Oman Vision 2040. He highlighted integrated residential neighborhood projects aimed at sustainable urban development, particularly emphasizing Sultan Haitham City, A’Thuraya City, and the Al Khuwair Downtown Project.

Officials from the Special Economic Zone at Duqm and the Public Authority for Economic Zones and Free Zones presented key achievements and ongoing projects within the economic zones. They also discussed available investment opportunities and the advanced infrastructure that supports the attraction of both local and foreign investments. Additionally, the conversation included efforts to bolster the Sultanate of Oman's competitiveness in the economic zones sector.

The gathering will continue tomorrow, Thursday, featuring discussions with the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, the Chairman of Oman Investment Authority, the Chairman of the Environment Authority, the Governor of A’Dakhiliyah, and several other officials.
