IndiGo And Garuda Indonesia Sign Codeshare Agreement

According to an official press statement, IndiGo and Indonesia's national airline, Garuda Indonesia, have reached a bilateral codeshare agreement to broaden travel opportunities for their respective clients.

The cooperation intends to provide seamless travel for passengers of both airlines between India and Indonesia, via Singapore, Bangkok, Jakarta, and Bali, on a single booking.

As part of this codeshare agreement, IndiGo customers will have access to 17 additional locations in Indonesia, while Garuda Indonesia passengers will be able to travel to seven destinations in India. According to IndiGo's announcement, travelers will benefit from a single ticket booking experience, which will simplify travel complexity and increase overall convenience.

We are pleased to announce this codeshare agreement with Garuda Indonesia, which strengthens our commitment to providing increased connectivity and a diverse choice of options to our clients, according to Abhijit DasGupta, Senior Vice President Network Planning & Revenue Management at IndiGo. This allows our passengers to simply arrange their itineraries and travel smoothly across Indonesia on the combined network of IndiGo and Garuda Indonesia.

Garuda Indonesia's Commercial Director, Ade R Susardi, welcomed the collaboration and stated that it is intended to boost the airline's flight network and deliver value to all customers of both airlines, particularly in terms of ease of air travel between India and Indonesia.

India is one of Garuda Indonesia's target markets. Ade believes that this collaboration with Indigo, one of India's largest airlines, would assist the government in optimizing tourist visits to Indonesia while also expanding Garuda Indonesia's international flight network, particularly in South Asia.

Separately, IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers stated on Tuesday in New Delhi that Indian aviation has tremendous growth potential in both the domestic and worldwide markets.

He stated that India's size and prospects provide a fantastic opportunity in contrast to China, which had considerable development in terms of aircraft and passenger numbers a decade ago.
