How Long Will Eid Holidays Be In Oman? Likely Dates Revealed

Muscat: Citizens and residents of the Sultanate of Oman are eagerly anticipating an extended holiday for Eid Al Fitr, the first significant celebration of 2025, which could last either five or nine days, depending on the sighting of the Moon.

The Moon-sighting committee is set to meet on Saturday, March 29 (Ramadan 29), to assess the visibility of the crescent Moon. Should the Moon be sighted, Ramadan will conclude after 29 days, and the Eid holiday will take place from Sunday, March 30, to Tuesday, April 1. This would create a five-day holiday, as work would resume on Wednesday, April 2, following the preceding weekend.

Conversely, if the Moon is not observed on March 29, Ramadan will last for 30 days, and Sunday, March 30 (Ramadan 30), will also be recognized as a holiday. In this case, the Eid holiday would extend until Wednesday, April 2. Including Thursday, April 3, along with the two weekends surrounding the holiday, residents could enjoy a nine-day break.

This potential extended holiday offers a wonderful opportunity for the people of Oman to celebrate Eid Al Fitr and spend meaningful time with family and friends.
