His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has officially designated November 20 as Oman’s National Day.
In his speech on Accession Day, His Majesty remarked, "Each year, November 20 will be celebrated as National Day for the Sultanate of Oman. This date marks the beginning of the Al Busaidi family's service to this beloved nation, initiated in 1744 AD by the founding Imam, Sayyid Ahmed bin Said Al Busaidi, who unified the Omani nation’s banner and led its efforts and significant sacrifices to achieve complete sovereignty over Oman, ensuring freedom and dignity for its honorable citizens."
