Highly Anticipated Event Showcasing Oman’s Heritage, Desert Charm Opens

Muscat: The eagerly awaited “Rahala” event officially commenced on Monday in the Jufaa region of Al Qabil, located in the North Al Sharqiyah Governorate. This event is designed to showcase the area's breathtaking natural landscapes and rich cultural heritage, providing a distinctive tourism experience for families, adventurers, and culture aficionados from Oman and beyond.

“Rahala” is a pivotal initiative organized in partnership with the North Al Sharqiyah Governor’s Office, the Oman Tourism Development Company (Omran Group), and the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, aimed at bolstering Oman’s reputation as a sustainable tourism destination.

The inauguration took place under the patronage of Ibrahim bin Said Al Busaidi, Governor of Musandam, and was attended by Mahmoud bin Yahya Al Dhadhli, Governor of North Al Sharqiyah, as well as Azzan bin Qassim Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Tourism and Chairman of Omran Group, along with other prominent officials and community representatives.

Mahmoud bin Yahya Al Dhadhli, speaking at the event's inauguration, underscored its significance: “Rahala” transcends a mere tourism initiative; it serves as a platform that showcases Oman’s rich cultural and natural heritage while promoting economic development and community enhancement. We anticipate that this event will motivate visitors to discover the genuine experiences available in North Al Sharqiyah, simultaneously generating real opportunities for our local communities.”

Dr. Hashil bin Obaid Al Mahrouqi, CEO of Omran Group, highlighted the importance of collaboration for the event's success: “At Omran Group, we are dedicated to harnessing Oman’s remarkable heritage and natural variety to provide distinctive tourism experiences. Through ‘Rahala,’ we seek to generate significant economic prospects for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and encourage partnerships with local communities, ensuring sustainable advantages for all involved.”

“Rahala” presents an exciting variety of activities aimed at a diverse audience. Attendees can engage in interactive workshops that delve into Oman’s heritage, enjoy live displays of traditional arts, and take part in exhilarating outdoor activities, including high-rope challenges, sand dune biking, and camel riding. The event also incorporates modern entertainment options, such as digital games and stargazing, creating a harmonious blend of tradition and contemporary leisure.

Emphasizing the event’s wider impact, Sumaiya bint Hamad Al Busaidiyah, Director of Heritage and Tourism in North Al Sharqiyah, remarked: “Rahala” embodies our ambition to enhance desert tourism while honoring the natural and cultural gems of North Al Sharqiyah. This event not only enriches the tourism landscape but also bolsters local businesses and home-based entrepreneurs, fostering economic growth and boosting hotel occupancy rates in the area.”
