Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman's efforts have successfully led to the release of a French citizen who had been detained in Iran for nearly two years. The individual, Louis Arnaud, has now returned home.

President Emmanuel Macron recently shared on X that Louis Arnaud is finally free and will be arriving in France tomorrow, following an extensive period of incarceration in Iran.

Expressing his gratitude, the president acknowledged Oman's assistance in securing Louis Arnaud's freedom and called upon Iran to release three other French prisoners as well.

The president further expressed his appreciation towards our Omani friends and all those involved in achieving this positive outcome. He also emphasized his concern for Cécile, Jacques, and Olivier, urging Iran to release them promptly and without delay.

According to BBC News, Louis Arnaud, who is in his 30s, was arrested in September 2022 on charges of participating in anti-government protests and contributing to anti-government propaganda.
