Muscat: On Sunday, Khalid Hilal Al Maawali, the Chairman of the Shura Council, welcomed Saqr Ghobash, the Speaker of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This visit by the UAE official to the Sultanate of Oman is focused on strengthening the ties between the two nations across various sectors.
During their discussions, Al Maawali emphasized the strong bilateral relations between Oman and the UAE, highlighting the importance of enhancing cooperation in legislative matters and other domains.
The meeting also addressed the significance of sharing perspectives on several regional and international issues, as well as aligning the positions of both countries on these matters.
Both parties underscored the necessity of fostering collaboration between the Omani Shura Council and the UAE Federal National Council through parliamentary diplomacy. They explored possibilities for leveraging modern technologies and artificial intelligence to enhance legislative processes.
The UAE delegation, accompanied by Ghobash, toured the Oman Council's departments, appreciating its unique architectural design, which reflects Omani heritage.
The delegation received insights into the implementation of modern technologies for managing sessions and utilizing electronic voting for the Council's agenda items. Subsequently, they visited the Oman Council Library.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Ahmed Mohammed Al Nadabi, Secretary-General of the Shura Council, along with other Council members, and Mohammed Nakhira Al Dhaheri, the UAE Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman.
