Al Jabal Al Akhdar: The Al Jabal Al Akhdar Festival 2025 and the Al Jabal Al Akhdar Media Forum will be launched this Friday at the celebration grounds in Seih Qatnah, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. The event will last through August 30 and will provide an integrated summer experience focusing on the wilayat's distinct natural character.
Sheikh Sabbaa Hamdan Al Saadi, Secretary General of the Secretariat General of National Celebrations, will preside over the formal opening ceremony in the presence of Sheikh Hilal Said Al Hajri, Governor of Al Dakhiliyah.
The two events represent Al Dakhiliyah Governorate's strategy of encouraging collaboration among government agencies, the community, and the media, which helps to promote development successes and accomplish the goals of Oman Vision 2040 by strengthening the governorate's position on the investment and tourist map.
The event will include laser and drone performances, cultural and artistic evenings, sports and family activities, as well as an open market with sections for productive families, small and medium businesses (SMEs), and platforms showcasing local agricultural goods such as pomegranates, honey, apricots, and mountain herbs.
The event will include up to 65 small firms and 10 farmers, with 60 temporary positions created in administrative and logistical support to demonstrate community engagement.
Sheikh Sultan Mansour Al Ghafaili, the Wali of Al Jabal Al Akhdar, underlined the wilayat's dedication to highlighting its potential and involving the local community in assisting development. He emphasized the significance of working together between government and non-governmental organizations to promote the success of these endeavors.
In a statement to the Oman News Agency (ONA), he said that current initiatives focus on improving quality of life and increasing tourist attractiveness, with Al Jabal Al Akhdar serving as a model for sustainable mountain development due to its natural resources and cultural legacy.
Meanwhile, Ahmed Salim Al Toubi, Director General of Administrative and Financial Affairs in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate and Chairman of the Festival Organizing Committee, said that the festival serves as a venue to promote the wilayat's many tourist and economic prospects, reflecting the governorate's commitment to empowering the local community.
Coinciding with the festival, the Al Jabal Al Akhdar Media Forum will open under the patronage of Sheikh Hilal Said Al Hajri, Governor of Al Dakhiliyah, with over 70 journalists from numerous Omani media outlets attending. The seminar is co-sponsored by Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, the Oman Journalists Association, the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Al Dakhiliyah branch, and the University of Nizwa.
The event seeks to highlight development and service activities that have been carried out in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, with an emphasis on efforts to develop mountainous regions, establish an investment-friendly climate, and promote communication between media experts and governorate officials.
The program features a dialogue session with the Governor, complete with graphic presentations on important projects, as well as field trips to various developments and tourist attractions, including the restored hamlet of Al Suwjara.
It should be noted that development projects worth more than OMR4. 5 million are now underway in Al Jabal Al Akhdar, including road network upgrades, the building of public and recreational facilities, and improvements in essential services.
