Nizwa— Today, the Ministry of Social Development officially launched the Protected Productive Workshops at the Al-Wafa Center for the Rehabilitation of Individuals with Disabilities located in the Wilayat of Nizwa. This event was held under the patronage of Sheikh Rashid Ahmed Al Shamsi, who serves as the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development.
The establishment of these workshops is part of the ministry's commitment to empower individuals with disabilities by providing them with professional rehabilitation through targeted training and employment opportunities. This initiative focuses on 50 beneficiaries with mild to moderate disabilities, aged between 18 and 45 years. The goal is to facilitate their inclusion into the workforce, foster economic independence, and enhance public awareness of their potential.
The initiative encompasses a facility that spans 600 square meters and is furnished with essential machinery and tools. It has received support from various companies, including Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), Occidental Oman, Daleel Petroleum, OQ Exploration and Production, BP, and CC Energy Development.
Within this facility, workshops are dedicated to paper recycling, food processing, and oil distillation, all designed to match the specific skills and capabilities of the beneficiaries.
